Do You Know Why You’re Special?

When I was in college, I studied hard. I consumed massive amounts of caffeine to stay up late studying, and have since developed an intolerance to that tasty black gold.

While marketing concepts and theories came more easily to me, math and science just eluded me.

But to this day, I still study hard, even though I graduated a couple of decades ago …

Because I’m always grateful for the opportunity to learn.

One concept that has been difficult for me to grasp is “funnels”.

I didn’t get it. Everyone was talking about funnels as the latest and greatest new thing.

Then one day, on a marketing call, I heard someone say…

“A funnel is just a decision tree.” Oh. Em. Gee.

I know what a decision tree is! It’s nothing new, but hearing a reframe made it suddenly so crystal clear to me.

Sometimes, your reader just needs for you to reframe an idea so it clicks for them.

They may have heard it a thousand times from other people, but until you explain it in your unique way, it just doesn’t get through.

There’s room for all of us to share our gifts and our skills, because there will always be people who need to hear what you have to say, the way you say it.
